Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Osteopractor?

An Osteopractor is a licensed healthcare professional—typically a Physical Therapist, Medical Doctor, or Doctor of Osteopathy—who has completed advanced, evidence-based training in spinal and joint manipulation, dry needling, and manual therapy techniques. They specialize in diagnosing and treating complex neuromusculoskeletal conditions like back pain, neck pain, headaches, joint pain, and more. Just like you’d see a dermatologist for skin issue, it makes sense to see an Osteopractor for joint, nerve, and muscle pain or dysfunction.

Do I need a referral?

Our clinic can treat you without a referral for up to 15 business days, based on current Texas regulations. After that, a referral from a medical provider is required if you wish to continue care. You’re welcome to bring it in person or email it to us. If needed, we can help you obtain one.

Starting September 1, 2025, this window will extend to 30 calendar days without a referral.

Wellness services do not require a referral at any time.

What are the rates of your services?

We offer per service and package options.

Do you take insurance?

Do you take insurance?

Austin Osteopractic and Wellness is a private-pay, out-of-network clinic, which means we do not bill insurance directly. This allows us to give you one-on-one care without the restrictions that insurance companies often place on treatment.

If you have out-of-network physical therapy benefits, you may be able to get reimbursed for your visits. We’ll provide you with a detailed superbill after each session that you can submit to your insurance company. We recommend checking with your insurance provider to see what your plan covers.

What kind of payment methods do you accept?

We accept credit cards, cash, Venmo & Zelle.

Do you offer remote services?

Yes. Please inquire.

Do you offer mobile services?

Yes. Please inquire.

Prices

While our services may seem like an investment initially, they are often more affordable than doctor visits that offer no real solutions. Dr. Ortiz has extensive, specialized training, so instead of seeing a generalist, you’ll be working with an expert. She takes the time to thoroughly assess and identify the root cause of your issue. In the long run, this approach offers a true return on investment by helping you avoid costly surgeries, ongoing medications or cookie cutter therapy that doesn’t work.
